Roger from Chiswick came to me desperate to lose weight and stop drinking after a health scare. He wrote this letter to me….
Over a period of years, drinking too much alcohol and eating junk food took their toll on me and I went from tall and slim to a ballooned out 129 kilos.
In late October of 2011, a routine check-up with my doctor confirmed that I also had Type 2 Diabetes and morbidly obese. My boss at work had some months prior to this successfully stopped smoking after a single 2 hour visit to Doug Osborne, and he suggested that Doug might be able to help me also. Thinking that I had nothing to lose, I contacted Doug the same day and arranged for a visit to see him on the following evening after work.
On the first session we talked at length about what I wanted, which was to stop drinking alcohol and to eat sensibly as I need to lose weight. Doug more or less got to know me, writing down notes as we went along.
On the following week, Doug hypnotised me and the best way to describe the experience is that I became ultra-relaxed, in a trance yet fully aware of my surroundings and the sensation was very pleasant. I found that after a few minutes, my eyes stopped blinking and my vision became mildly distorted and a bit blurred. Doug then started talking to me and referring to his notes, calmly read back to me positive thoughts about how I will look and feel after losing weight.
At the end of the session, when Doug took me out of the trance, it felt like I had been hypnotised for only about 15 minutes, when in fact it was 40 minutes. I returned for a few weekly sessions which soon became 3 monthly visits. Despite having drank far too much alcohol and eaten junk food for most of my adult life, (I’m 59 years of age) from the first visit, I was now a non-drinker and I concentrate on eating healthy. Subsequent hypnotherapy sessions were valuable to me as they gave me renewed incentive, or a bit of a boost to carry on.
Over many months, I lost a total of 23 kilos and some 17 months later I am a changed person, I get plenty of exercise and walk up to 10km a week and I look very different, I have renewed confidence in myself and recently met a very nice lady who I see 3 to 4 times a week. We can enjoy going to pubs and parties and in all honesty I can say that not only is alcohol off the menu, but I have not once been tempted to take another drink.
I have now stopped my hypnotherapy sessions as I feel that Doug can no longer do anything more for me and it is now down to me to carry on. I’m a 100% believer and tell people that clinical hypnotherapy has helped my boss to stop smoking and me to shed a lot of weight
