How important is confidence? In many ways it is the most important quality we display to others – it’s like the oil in our personal effectiveness engine; if it dries up, so do we and people read that in a second. It can feel like our confidence ebbs and flows almost separate to us.

We all experience confidence dips. Confidence depends upon many things - and indeed so many things depend upon a confidence.

Sometimes we find ourselves going through a patch where confidence has left us. This may be because of a failed relationship, an illness, something at work, redundancy, a difficult patch with our partner or children or a myriad of other nasties.

The reality is people read confidence really quickly, probably in a split second, and you pick up on that – it’s like a feedback loop.
