How important is confidence? In many ways it is the most important quality we display to others – it’s like the oil in our personal effectiveness engine; if it dries up, so do we and people read that in a second. It can feel like our confidence ebbs and flows almost separate to us.
Have you ever been out with good friends, feeling on top of the world, everything you say feels interesting, people pay attention to you, you feel quick off the mark and generally it all seems rather effortless? Feels great doesn’t it?
On the contrary you probably have had days where someone says or does something unexpected that sends your confidence into a dip, or that bright confident light inside you feels dimmed down or switched off.
More on confidence
We all experience confidence dips. Confidence depends upon many things - and indeed so many things depend upon a confidence.
Sometimes we find ourselves going through a patch where confidence has left us. This may be because of a failed relationship, an illness, something at work, redundancy, a difficult patch with our partner or children or a myriad of other nasties.
The reality is people read confidence really quickly, probably in a split second, and you pick up on that – it’s like a feedback loop.
The key is being able to display confidence, regardless of the situation – internal or external – to get the best result. If you do this you will get supportive ‘I see a confident person in front of me’ feedback...which helps us to feel more confident.
How Hypnotherapy helps
We unpick situations in our work together to neutralise past negative experience. This can be a simple process of walking through tricky situations and making some adjustments – a bit like editing a computer programme that has gone a little off track.
I then use a tailored mix of coaching, hypnosis and behavioural tools that you are comfortable with. We can expedite these by using clinical hypnosis and you try them out in between sessions.
Each session we then work through your successes, make alterations and examine new angles.
Often people find that after just a few sessions things change*, confidence begins to build - which in turn allows more experimentation and yet more confidence. Once you 'know' a situation has the potential for a different outcome you will feel much more in control. Clinical hypnotherapy helps to build - with completely bespoke tailoring - distinct 'pre-memory'.
The feedback loop starts telling you ‘I see a confident person in front of me’, because they do!
