This week I had the pleasure of discharging a lovely lady who had come to me after life long (almost 30years) crippling claustrophobia. She hadnt been on an aircraft or tube for nearly ten years..imagine that living in London. We did just 6 sessions using a new technique (to me) called EMDR. She had been on a tube and booked her first long haul flight! She says she also feels much 'lighter' and less nervous.
Last year I attended a six day training in EMDR. This stands for eye movement desensitisation and reprocesssing. Simply put this is a powerful technique that though origianlly designed for war vetrans to manage PTSD is now used by those with the training to get leverage on a whole heap of mental health difficulties. I have since used it maybe 30 times, and still cannot get past how fast and effective it really is.
