If there's anything you want to know about, please feel free to ask and I will help in anyway I can...
One question I get asked all the time:
"Is it true I will loose control if I undergo clinical hypnotherapy?"
"About 99% of us have well developed willpower and actually if I was to attempt to override this during hypnosis this would 'jolt' you out of the trance state into full waken awareness.
We see hypnotic stage shows; generally these do not show you the part of the show where the hypnotist looks for the 'most suggestable' in an audience. This will be 8-10 individuals out of 300-400 people. Obviously if you go to one of these shows at some level you are looking for entertainment, so it follows that selecting the most suggestable people and then putting them on a stage (often having had an hour at the bar before hand) is a great recipe for some fun and games...
Most of us are quite resistant to this type of thing and it's a modern myth that a hypnotist would be able to get you dancing like a chicken (cluck cluck!). In any case in a therapy situation I want my clients wishes to be clear and have a strong sense of them before they undergo any form of treatment. In actual fact many hypnotherapists do not do the hypnosis part in a first session (unless it's for something like smoking).
So no, you can't loose control. To the contary, it often takes a few sessions of hypnosis to get to the point where the client and I can negotiate some of the difficulties they have come to transform"
